In 2020 we decided to re-create parts that we originally manufactured in 1978 for Lucasfilm UK Ltd. Above is Dragomir inspecting our 2020 versions of the parts he originally made.
During 1978 we were asked to manufacture the following components:
The aluminium helmet parts mounted to both side of the helmet. One side included a movable stalk with integrated switch to operate lighting.
We also made some of the aluminium detail parts for the iconic jetpack.
Mounted on the left gauntlet was a barrel shaped device named originally as a LASER. Made from aluminium & copper then partially painted.
We helped design & manufacture the 3 pronged grappling hook that was mounted in the tip of the jetpack mounted rocket.
Original gauntlet laser
Here is a photo of the original component that we manufactured in 1978. We decided to recreate the piece in 2021 as a training exercise. We even made a replica gauntlet with working flame thrower. Of course.
Continuation
Here is a set of 2021 made lasers in 3 stages of development.
Gauntlet
We carefully recreated the flamethrower housing and used all found parts.
During 2021, we created a fully working and accurate replica of the original gauntlet. Great effort was made to ensure accuracy including the correct gas fittings, genuine Casio keypad & even the original Glenross detail. Mounted on the gauntlet is our first continuation laser made since 1978. Chris Cudby is the brave engineer in the photos below.
During the quieter times caused by the global pandemic, we chose to re-create some photos found from 1978. Our workshop is the ideal back drop. Chris Cudby can be seen above recreating a photo of Brian Archer from Elstree Studios.
Here is Chris Cudby recreating a photo of Brian Archer test fitting a helmet to Mark Harris in 1978.
